A program for our youngest patrons. Babies, toddlers, and their caregivers aged 0-3 can come for stories, music and movement.

Come enjoy at the library! Build a fun scene with LEGO and DUPLO blocks! This program is intended for children old enough to not put pieces in their mouth. Our LEGOs were generally provided by a generous grant from PACGDC.

Every Thursday we provide tables with chess boards and pieces for a chess club. All ages welcome with an emphasis on teaching children and new players the game. Light refreshments may be offered.

Myrna Johnson, the Executive Director of Iowa Public Radio, will speak in Room 17. Over the last 12 years, Johnson has led IPR through a period of significant change, guiding a transition of IPR's 27-station network from university-owned to community-owned, reformulating IPR's Governance structure, and leading IPR through a successful first-ever comprehensive campaign. She has grown the IPR newsroom, and established a successful digital footprint including an award-winning newsletter portfolio. Johnson serves on the board of National Public Radio. Her prior experience includes running the Boston Schoolyard Initiative; managing the National Forum on Children and Nature; serving as VP of government affairs for the Outdoor Industry Association; and working for 8 years in the National Affairs department of National Public Radio. Johnson has a B.A. from Wartburg College, and an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School.  She grew up Ruthven, Iowa and currently lives north of Ames. This speaker is sponsored by the AAUW.

For those of you who cannot make our weekly program, we offer a special time on a Saturday each month!

Come to the library for a fun hour and a half of video games. A wide variety of games are offered from week to week with an emphasis on those that get the most players involved. A light snack is provided.
